1:1 Bespoke Math Tutoring
for Grades 2–12

Personalized, one-on-one instruction built around your child's actual coursework — from an educator with 14 years in education, including work as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and math program specialist.

Patrick Fitzsimmons

14 years in education, now tutoring one student at a time.

I've spent 14 years in education — as a classroom teacher, an instructional coach training other teachers, and most recently running a math tutoring program for DC Public Schools. I started tutoring privately because I kept seeing the same thing: kids who just needed focused, patient, one-on-one attention to turn frustration into confidence.

I work with students where they actually are — aligned to their school's curriculum, their upcoming tests, and the specific gaps that are holding them back — rather than a generic worksheet program.

I'm a math pedagogy expert — I understand the science of how kids actually learn math, not just how to explain it. That means lots of hands-on manipulatives and visual models, and a focus on building real conceptual understanding rather than memorized steps that fall apart under pressure.

Why parents choose to work with me

1

A real classroom teacher, not a generalist

14 years in education means I know exactly how curricula are taught and where students typically get stuck.

2

Instructional coaching background

I spent years training other teachers on how students actually learn math — that shapes every session I run.

3

Built around your child's coursework

No generic worksheets — sessions track your child's current class, tests, and specific trouble spots.

4

Patient, encouraging, and consistent

The goal is confidence as much as competence — students leave sessions feeling capable, not defeated.

5

A math pedagogy expert

I know the science of how kids actually learn math — sessions use hands-on manipulatives and visual models to build real conceptual understanding, not just memorized steps.
